The Italian Breeds: Ancona, Buttercup, Leghorn

Clucker Books has partnered with ABA/APA Poultry Judges Steve Beaty and Brian Caraker (the same Brian Caraker from “Chicken People”) to write the next Clucker Book, The Italian Breeds: Ancona, Buttercup, Leghorn. In this book we will take an in-depth look at each of these three breeds. Within each breed section we will give simple explanations of the traits in the Standard and have plenty of pictures showing what you do and do not want in your birds for each of these traits. We will also have a “Traits to be on Guard Against” section where we will cover faults, defects, and disqualifications seen in the show hall. We will also cover housing, breeding strategies, and preparing your birds for a show. This book will cover both bantam and large fowl for each of these breeds. Expected summer 2025!
