Parasites, Diseases, and Other Disorders of Poultry (I’m not positive on the title yet, but you get the idea)
Clucker Books has partnered with Howard Davenport to write the next Clucker Book, Parasites, Diseases, and Other Disorders of Poultry. In this much needed book we cover both common and not-so-common issues that the backyard flock owner and poultry exhibitor may encounter with their birds. Both external and internal parasites are covered along with lots of pictures so the reader knows what it is they are looking at. There is even a section with pictures of internal parasite eggs and how to do a float test at home to determine how to treat your birds. This book covers diseases in a common sense way; Reproductive Diseases are in one chapter, Digestive System Issues in another chapter, Leg, Foot, and Wing Issues (these are things like Bumblefoot and how to treat it), in another chapter, and so on. We even have a chapter Strange Behaviors and Odd Looking Things where we cover things that really aren’t disorders but may seem strange someone new to poultry. For example, “There’s a Pimple Like Structure on my Chicken’s Back” – shows pictures of the uropygial (preen) gland, tells what it is and its function, and explains why it is important to the bird’s health. This is certain to be a book that every backyard flock owner and poultry exhibitor is sure to find indispensable! Expected winter 2024!
